Hi there, I'm new to hatching chicken eggs. I decided to try 4 eggs only. I built a cooler bator and with hours of trial and error got my temps and humidity just right ( or so I thought) On day 1 when I got home from work the temp was up to 111

I have since rectified the temp. I am wondering if the higher temp on day 1 would have harmed the eggs at all?

If it was that high for any length of time, yes. I would give them a week to see if there is any development, but if it was that high long enough for the inside of the eggs to meet that temp, then you probably won't see much.

Just an update... Candled the eggs that I thought I had COOKED on day 1, I see growth in both white eggs however can't see through the 2 brown ones yet. Hopefully will see something later

Oh thank you!!! I was so worried I had disrupted development when the temperature in my incubator spiked to 111 on day 1. This is my first time hatching so I was pretty clueless. However Backyard Chickens has helped me learn so much

I agree, lovely bunch of people here. A quick temporary change in temperature usually doesn't change anything I find. Best of luck with the rest of the hatch!

I've had my eggs go up to 120, and most of them actually hatched! they hatched actually earlier, because when the temperature changes to so high, it makes them develop faster i think.
11/12 eggs hatched when they went uo to 120 for a short period of time. I wouldn't worry!
