I know guineas can be loud, but she is constantly calling. I went to buy a few laying age hens and he people asked me to take the guinea for free... Is she going to settle down? If so how long would you guess this may take? She was the only guinea where she was and was not calling like this here. My set up is MUCH nicer than where she was...

In my experience, the hens greatly reduce their calling when they have a mate. She needs a male guinea to mate with and without one she is very likely to keep calling for a mate.

Well... After over two hours of calling buckwheat in the front yard area ( yep, tried to catch it right after my last post and boy can she fly!) I went to check where she was... Evey, my cross beak hen followed me as usual, we call her my shadow... When miss guinea pants saw Evey she stopped calling. She watched Evey and I hanging out together and then Evey going back into our barn. Miss guinea slowly crept where Evey went and has been hanging out with the flock... At first the flock did the whole"what is this strange creature from the zombie apocalypse" distance making, but have mellowed out and are just being chickens. Miss guinea calls a bit here, but is much better than she was.

Update... Miss guinea, now named Bertolli, has roosted both nights with the chickens in the coop. She hops right on up beating some of the hens to the punch. This.morning I found a guinea egg in one.of.the horse stalls! I am pleased that her, and 3 hens, relocation to our.flock has produced an egg each in less than 24 hours of being with us.

For the most part, yes... But... She seems to have assigned buddy status to a speckled Sussex hen we have, but if she loses sight of said hen she will call and call. Of course the hen has no clue she is being called.for...

I have looked.on craigslist for an adult buddy but cannot find one within a multi hours drive from here. There are several places with keets though. If I got a couple of keets, would that work?
