Tailfeathers look like devil horns

Ben's comb is starting to fade out - the tips aren't bright red anymore, more like a yellowish orange. Does that mean anything? Here's a close-up.

My 7 1/2 week old barred rock cockerel's comb did the same thing, it grew rapidly and then the tips turned a bit less red. This is my first (adult) experience raising chicks, and i didn't think it meant anything. Mine is active and growing so I figured its just the stage he's in. If i'm wrong, i hope someone corrects me!

Ben is definitely a cockerel. The others look like pullets.

Comb is the best indicator...then secondary sex feathers such as the saddle and sickle feathers and for some breeds the tell tale sign of red on wing bows...until then feathers literally come and go in all manner of funk until the juvenile acquires adult feathers which can lead to some weird looking moments for both sexes.

Ben look like a pullet to me. But I'm not super experienced. What was the end result?

Ben was all boy. This is the last pic I have of him before he got re-homed.

Layla is a pullet, so I guess the "devil horn" tail feathers don't give any indication of sex.
