Can anyone help me guess the breed mix of this puppy?

It may just be the angle of the photo, but in the first picture with your new rescue, his toes on the left ( facing right side in picture) front foot look bigger (swollen) than those on the other foot.
 
Microchick, the smaller dog in your picture (of two) looks like it has Springer spaniel in it. I showed dogs a million years ago and got pretty familiar with many breeds. Just something about the head and expression makes me think

My sister has a rescue mutt that was allegedly a Australian cattle dog. I could tell from first picture he wasn't. Now she thinks he is a Jack Russell because some biddy in the neighborhood said it looks a bit like one. I just wanted to say, she just sent away to find out his DNA. Her daughter has an old rescue that was supposedly a corgi - not in a million years. She's having the dna done also. In fact she said she and her daughter might have it done on themselves.- weird.
 
Believe me, I have been tempted to sneak her awsy fir a spaying. She's a gorgeous and sweet dog and I hate to see her having litter after litter.

As for tbe new guy's toes, it must just be the angle the pic was taken. His feet are massive though. He was surprisingly not hurt in any way, just scared, hungry and full of worms. He is lying on me asleep right now, seems pretty grateful to be here.
