I have an Easter egger and barred rock and they are outside right now in the shade. It is going to reach 102 today and I was wondering how hot should it be for me to worry about heat stroke/death. I have them in the shade in a grass patch. They also have a huge tub of water where they can waddle around in to help cool off.

Make sure their water is cool. In the summer I freeze water bottles and put them in their waterers during the day, and refreeze at night. Some people keep sprinklers in the yard for their chickens to cool off in.
You can give them melons to help cool them off too.

It's not so much the heat as it is the humidity!!!!!!!! How high is the humidity ? That's what will get them. 102 is not bad if it's dry there and a little breeze blowing.
