    Chick with Lazy eye?

I've already established that this is no emergency, as the chick shows no signs of distress, pain, or lethargy. Plus she is already 3 going on 4 weeks old, I'm just curious if anyone else has ever had a chick like this, and knows if she'll grow out of it or if I should expect anything wrong in...

    Deformed leg??

This chick hatched yesterday. Its leg is bent and cannot straighten. I have tried gently pulling it down and it can’t get straight. The joint feels bigger than the joints on the other chicks and not smooth. It is hobbling around on its knee/elbow. Any advice?

    Slipped tendon?

This chick hatched about 8 hours ago. One of the legs is stuck up. It is trying to stand and cannot. Is there a way to fix this? The toes are all fully developed.

Is this normal for a duck to have?

This duck had a deformed bill, but he is still doing fine. I'm wondering if this sack by his neck is normal or also a deformity, I think I saw another duck that had one but not like this.

    Weird wing on baby chick!

Hello! I have a baby Brahma with a weird wing. It didn’t show sings of discomfort when inspecting it and it can move it. Could this be just a growth deformity? Or something else? I just want to make sure it doesn’t affect its quality of life. Chick is less than a week old

    Deformed quail

So I have a baby quail that hatched yesterday, I noticed it was not walked like it should be while letting it dry but instead it was dragging itself with its wings. All my other quail are happy and normal but this little guy has one leg way longer than the other, only really uses the shorter...

4 week old chick with deformity- curved beak and possibly blind in one eye?

A couple weeks ago, I "rescued" some 2ish week old chicks from my local feed store. These poor babies seemed to be the rejects due to one reason or another (having been picked on terribly, very small/poor feathering for their ages, and all with terrible pasty bum). I couldn't bare to see them...

10 day old chick with soft bumps on head - Help!

Short backstory: one of my mixed bantam hens hatched 4 chicks on 12/04, and one of them developed what look like little bubbles on its head. This chick's left wing also hasn't grown since it hatched, but I'm not as concerned about that since it acts like any other chick. The bumps are clear-ish...

Chick with damaged leg. Splayed or broken?

Hey yall! I received a package of day old chicks in the mail today. This will be my second time raising a flock from this age. I'm asking for opinion on what you think is wrong with one of the chicks legs. My initial thought was straddle leg but when I really inspected the leg, I noticed the...

chick that cant close one of her eyes

I made a post earlier about this, but I figured I have a different question and needed a more specific thread. I hatched a chick out yesterday, she wasn't moving around very well (not as well as all her other siblings) after moving them all to the brooder I went to check on them and noticed she...

Nothing wrong, just curious: Information on Birth Defects in Chickens?

This is a bit weird, and I’m not sure where else to post this thread but here. I’m very interested in physical deformations and dysmorphology. I was wondering if anyone has any good reading material (or even first-hand experiences!!!) with physical deformations in chickens? I’m primarily...

    Quail chick leg issues

Hi all! I'm new to the forum and have an issue I've never encountered before. I had my batch of Quail hatch last night and this morning, and I have one that hatched with it's leg actually backwards (the joint). Not splay leg, but a deformity. Is there any way I can help him?

    Goose with underbite

Yes I know the emoji is a swan. There's no goose! Matilda Jane , my 3ish month old embden goose seems to be developing a big underbite and a slight crossbill. I didn't notice any deformity at all when I got her, but it seems to be getting worse. Anyone else experience this? Is there a...

    Deformed foot

My dad brought me home two leftover chickens they had at tractor supply. One has a serious leg deformity. I do not know if this was aquried after hatching or what. According to my dad the employees say that it's been getting around rather well and it does sort of hop using its wings. The leg can...

Okay so I have two, 3-4 weeks old Pekins and a Khaki of the same age and one of the Pekin ducklings has significantly larger thighs than either of his/her 'siblings' I'm really not sure what's going on, it doesn't seem to cause him/her any discomfort but he/she is very pigeon toed and overal...

Chick with Broken Toe? Deformity? Non-urgent.

We recently got 8 new chicks for raising then selling. We purchased 6 sapphire gems, 1 americauna, and 1 little barred rock. The barred rock seems to have a crooked toe. 2 days ago when we got them was when we noticed it. It looked like she got her middle toe broken when she was in the brooder...

Duckling with strange leg issues, not spraddle etc

hi guys i had a duckling hatch early last week from a breach position which at first I thought had curled toes. But it now sems like either some sort of leg deformity that I cant find any info on, or a neurological issue, which seems to be getting worse the stronger the duckling gets. Since...

    My special needs hen ❤️

I’m an FFA member, and our chapter hatched about 20 chicks this spring. One hatched late during my class, and already something was off. The poor thing wasn’t really walking even once she’d dried off. Later, I came back to see her in the brooder, still not walking. I realized when I picked her...
