1/4” galvanized hardware cloth

I’ve read other posts, but I’m still unsure. I purchased the wrong gauge of 23 1/4” hardware cloth and it wasn’t strong at all! I’m getting ready to make my run and I was thinking of 1/4” 19 gauge, will that be strong or should I use 1/2” hardware cloth instead? The reason I wanted 1/4” was to keep most critters out.

If you can find 19 gauge 1/4", it would work. But 1/2" will get the job done and cost less.

1/2" is fine for the job. 1/4" is overkill and too expensive.
