1st EGG!

I got my 1st egg today !

I told my girls this morning NO eggs and I'm going to call you dinner!
I went out to the coop this afternoon and there it was perrrrrrrrrrrfect little med. size egg. 20weeks & 4days
I guess it worked.

I tried to post a picture but it told me it was the wrong format, my format is jpeg I'll try again. I'm not sure how to change it.

Thanks! I'm soooooo excited can't wait too see whats in the nest tomorrow morning. Do I put it in the frige? what end goes up? I'm new to chickens.

We poked a hole in each end of our first egg and blew it out so it could be on display. If you want to eat it then I would put it in the fridge point down.

I leave my eggs on the counter to cool then put them in the fridge. I use to leave them out on the counter till the dog started getting up there and eating them. At my house eggs do not last long enough to go bad on the counter.

I ALWAYS put my eggs small side down.

Now that I think of it when I tell mine to get laying or its the stew pot
the next day I get eggs.

This may seem like an odd question, but why small end down? I thought it was the reverse, like they are when you buy them at the grocery store. So, why?
