Hi, one of my chickens has been limping for a couple of days and will just lay down to rest. The other chicken just started limping. Adding picture of foot. It’s the right one. It’s been curling up. No visible injuries.

Could this illness? Any tips or information is helpful. I have no idea what to do. This is my first time having chickens. Thanks so much.

How r your 2 limping chickens? I too have 2 limping chickens! I since changed the roost bars in henhouse thinking maybe too tall.
Hey! They are doing much better. We isolated them for a week to heal. We widened the roosting bar and added a ladder. We also made sure we had some more wood shavings to cover the floor of the coop for them to land on. Hopefully yours can be healed and feeling better soon too!

Oh thank you! I suspected the roosting set up was the cause of this. I actually gave her some aspirin today and it seemed to help. She was walking in the crate and being very chicken normal so i opened the crate to assess and guess what she did? Right up the ramp to the nesting box. Hopefully she'll lay an egg and maybe feel better. I think she had to lay all morning but i was hoping she would have in the crate. Did your 2 lay eggs in the crate? It was probably easier for your 2 chickens going through it together. I'll leave my gal in the crate in the run. She'll freak if shes alone. Time will tell i suppose. Did yours keep weight off the leg at all? Like, hold it up? It took your chickens 1 full week to heal? Did you do anything else? Thank you so much! 🐓❤️

She is beautiful! Yes, mine kept one leg up just like yours is in the picture. Both my hens that were injured are about 4 months old and haven’t stated laying yet so we didn’t have to worry about that. yes about a whole week— which wasn’t ideal but needed. A few days in we let them out of isolation and they were both still limping. One of them just laid in the grass to rest and the other was trying to keep up with the rest of the flock and was limping like crazy. A few days more of isolation and healing did the trick!
