(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

We are new and got baby chicks last Friday and Saturday. 6 days ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
18 chicks. 2 hens( a rescue and a gift)
3 babies died. One immediately despite our extreme lifesaving attempts, another two days later and then the next day.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Buff orpington
Cinnamon queen
Salmon faverolle
Dakr brahma
Light brahma
Lavender orpington
Sapphire splash
Silver laced wyandotte
Barred plymoth rock
Prairie bluebell
Easter egger(?) Auracana/Americana
Olive egger
Buff cochin
Sapphire gem



(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Listening to them peep at night
The eggs
Having something to watch on the farm
Listening to my hens cluck and come when i call them

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Knitting. Crocheting. Reading.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Bluetick heeler hound
Fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, menses, menopause doula
I teach holistic physiologic childbirth classes.
Sneeze pee no more classes.
Womb tea & yoni steaming classes
Breastfeeding classes
Postpartum cooking classes
We are Army military and just had our 6th baby.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I found it online years and years ago. Maybe 7 years ago i joined and started researching, fought my HOA for a year- the town allowed chickens and people already had them in our hoa, lost that battle, and moved to an 8 acre farm 6 mo ago.
We actually have chickens now so its game time!
