Is this common? She seems fine. No one is bullying her (though she seems to engage in some lite bullying, herself). We weren't expecting her first egg until about a week from now, anyway, but it seems like once that system is running it should run normally? Anyone know?

I had an Ameraucana lay one egg and seemed like she wasn’t laying anymore (she was our only one with that color eggs and we only had three other hens at the time who were old enough to lay and eagerly awaited her eggs).

Weeks went by and we saw her jumping up into the rafters in the garage and found two whole entire dozen eggs from her. 🤦🏻‍♀️

So, it might be that she has instinctively found a secret hiding place for her eggs after she realized you took the first one away. Maybe leave some fake eggs in the nest box so she can get trained to lay there. If she seems otherwise healthy, young, and well fed, and not stressed, she is probably hiding the eggs. It seems our young ones always do this the first year they start laying until they get used to laying in the nest boxes.

Her system is not running normally yet. It takes a while for their laying to normalize. You could see skipped days, wonky eggs and normal eggs for a bit.
