One of my chicks somehow broke at least 5 blood feathers on her tail today. The rest of the chicks were pecking her like crazy so I’m sure they caused some. Luckily I caught it right away and have some vet training so I have quick clot and got her cleaned up and bleeding stopped. She is currently quarantined and very lonely. I read that it’s best to just pluck the blood feathers to prevent any more damage, so my husband and I will be doing that tonight. However we are wondering if we should still quarantine her for a day or so? Or will she be ok to return to the flock tonight?

As long as there is no visible blood or injury that might encourage the others to peck at her, and no other health issues that would require her to be separated, my personal preference is to get them back with the rest of the flock as soon as possible, since it can be more difficult to reintegrate them the longer they are kept separate.
