5 missing and 2 dead chickens :(

If the bodies are shaken and broken it is likely a dog. During times of crisis chickens will scatter but if there no "call birds" at your house or coop anymore the chickens in hiding may find it hard to find their way home. If they are alive hopefully your 5 missing birds will show up.

On the other hand this is the high season for fox rearing. Do a walk-around where there are rock piles, ridges, and brush piles etc. Walk slowly facing into the wind stopping often to smell or sniff the breeze. When the fox and the vixen get carried away with parent hood they will often carry fresh kill after fresh kill to their den and just drop it there for their kits to either eat, play with, or watch it rot. Walking into the wind at this time of year is a good way to smell out an active fox den.

If you find an active den remember that what happens at a fox den stays at a fox den.

Why not smoke the den out with smoke flares or rat smoke bombs then cover hole up?
