Our chicks are now 7.5 weeks old and are starting to get quite the personality. We have 6 chicks and not positive of the breeds but have come up with some guesses based on advice and research (2 easter eggers, 2 millie fleur d'uccle, 2 silkie/d'uccle mix).
As for gender we are starting to take our guesses.The 2 millie fluer d'uccles both attempted to crow the other day (see video in link under chicken #6); however, we think one may be a hen. What is the possibility of this happening? Also, we are fairly certain that the bigger of the two easter eggers is a roo due to the comb, hackles, and possible spurs.

1. Here is one of the proposed silkie/d'uccle mix. It has black skin and feathered feet. It started out as pure black but has develped some lighter coloring around the neck in the last few weeks.

2. Here is the second proposed silkie/d'uccle mix. It has many of the same features as #1 but it also has 5 toes. The coloring started out as pure grey but has lightened up and incorporated light tan in the tail and wing feathers.

3. We were told these were bantam araucanas when we received them, but now know they are likely easter eggers. This one is considerably smaller in size and seems to be the runt of the pack. The comb is not a developed as the other easter egger; hardly any color or growth.

4. Here is the second easter eggers. it is almost double the size of #3 and the comb development is substantial. There may be some spur development on this one; however, ths is our go with chickens, so we are unsure what this actually entails. This one likes to be held like a baby.

5. This is one of our millie fleur d'uccles. This one is slightly larger than #6,the comb is slightly lighter in color, and the wattles are not as developed. The comb however appears to be that of a roo based on research. It has also crowed once and fights with the other d'uccle often.

6. Here is our last millie fleur d'uccle. Pretty sure this is a roo since it has been crowing (however scrathcy it may be) every morning. Large red comb and wattles. You can see the video of his first morning of crowing on youtube: .
