Hi, 2 of our 6 new chicks are Polish and we cannot keep roosters in the city. The feed supply store said they are supposed to be hens (90% accurate). We have one White Crested Black Polish and one Buff Laced Polish and both are around 7 weeks old. What do you think? Thanks in advance.

The white crested black polish seems to be a little cockerel. The buff seems to be a pullet. Hopefully you can find a good home for him!
Thanks! We have a friend that lives in the country that said they'd happily take the White Crested Black Polish if they ended up being a rooster. If anyone else has any different opinions, I'd love to hear them.

1 is a female, 2 is a male. Rounder crest typically mean female. While wilder ones mean male. Also males crest will be sharper, while females will be rounder. Sometimes it’s hard to tell, but these two are fairly easy.

Yep - this is 100% correct. The bearded polish can be more difficult. But what I circled is going to tell you 100% that she is a pullet - the forehead hat feathers curling at the top. If you were to take a pic of your cockerel from the same angle, you will see these perpetually standing straight up (aside from his waddles 😜)

Here is an example of our birds, and you will see the difference. This guy has been bred to have a more flowing mop than most, but you'll see his poking out where the bearded buff lace is curling over.
