We got five Silkie chicks in May and are wondering which are pullets and which are roos. They have been difficult to get photos of, but today I got two of them! One is 8 weeks and one is 7 weeks. Both have small combs so far. But Mo gives me some rooster vibes šŸ¤” Thoughts?

1) ā€œMoā€ - Black Silkie (caught in the middle of snacking on grass šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø)
2) ā€œPeanutā€ - Buff Silkie

Hope I loaded my pictures correctly! šŸ¤žšŸ»šŸ™ƒ Thanks for the help!

Peanut definitely looks like a Roo. Mo has quite a large comb.
In my opinion both are Roos. I could be wrong...
I rehomed 2 Silkie Roos at 8 weeks. Both had very prominent combs.

Thank you! Interesting! I have another Silkie from the same hatch who has a much larger comb at this point (he is unquestionably a cockerel), so I was assuming that these two have small combs. But I am very new to this, so I have nothing to compare too. Seems I may have several roos! Thanks for your input!

I believe I see streamers on both. So my guess would also be both cockerels.

This was one of my boys at 8 weeks.

Update- Peanut is almost 16 weeks old and still not sure if they are a cockerel or pullet. My other two Silkie roos from this batch have been crowing for weeks and have large combs. Peanut has not crowed. The comb has not developed any further and is flat in comparison to my other roos, but just slightly raised in comparison to my pullets. But that tail keeps me thinking cockerel šŸ¤” I am new to chickens so still learning! Thoughts?
