Advice on bringing chicks into coop

I have 3 hybrids with very lovely personalities. One of them has been broody for weeks now and if she continues to be broody I want to get her a chick or two to adopt (I have a heat lamp should she not take to them) but I'm wondering if it's best to give her these chicks in the coop - so all my hens get used to them, or have her raise them separately and then introduce them back to the coop. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to BYC! It may be a good idea to put her in a "broody coop" until the chicks get a little older just to ensure they don't get picked on by the other hens. Best of luck and thanks for joining us!

Hello there, and welcome to Backyard Chickens! Personally, if you only have three hens, I would probably let the mom raise them all together. If you have a good mom, she should be able to keep her chicks from being picked on if she only has two hens to battle. And it will not take long at all for those hens to learn that e babies are off limits. Thanks for joining us, I hope you enjoy BYC as much as I have!
 
Many thanks for all the great advice and warm welcome! If she's still broody in a few weeks time I'll go ahead and get her a chick or two to raise.

Broody hens should be separate from the rest of the flock. Other birds may decide to attack or kill the chicks, or their mother may be injured trying to defend them.
