I am currently raising my second flock, 13 - 3 week old hens. I still have 3 Barred Rock 3yr old hens from first 10 hen flock left. They're healthy, friendly & spoiled rotten. However I need to build new coop & reconstruct new run for new flock.... I do not want to do the whole introducing/integrating.
I want to start fresh. I can't even imagine culling my older hens:barnie. I live in a very farm friendly area, & honestly procrastinated regarding letting them go. Other than my local feed store, I don't know how to find them a new home within a week....

Never, ever thought I'd feel this way about chickens... I'm so stressed about what to do...They truly can be part of family, just as our dog Benny...

Any advice is appreciated!!!

Sincerely,
Your 2nd flock newbie & lovin' it!!!

I have no clue how far Lunenburg is from me. Guessing you're near Boston?

We randomly acquired both our sets of older hens because my kids talked about us starting to homestead. Someone always knows someone...
And one day 3 hens in a storage tote were dropped off.
2 weeks later, 6 more showed up.

It was hectic but a great way to intro the kids to chicken care. If I'm not too far, or you're willing to drive, I'd take them. Or, I bet you can find a family just like us.
