I am planning on raising some turkeys for meat next year for the first time so have a lot of questions for you folks that have some experience if you would please share.

What breed do you prefer? and which hatchery do you prefer?
How long to grow out to a 12-15 pound dressed bird?
At what age, do you take from the brooder to pasture?
What % feed to you use?

Bourbon Red, because it is the best tasting breed that still attains a decent size.
I don't buy turkey poults from hatcheries. I buy from breeders. Or bought. I now plan to hatch out my own.
I would say 24 to 28 weeks. Maybe less.
Depends on the weather, but usually 8 weeks. They are very vulnerable until that age, but after that are the toughest birds I own.
28% game bird starter/grower through teen hood, then switch to 20%.
