Guess I am earning my title of friendly neighborhood crazy chicken lady…You're crazy.
In my experience they usually have bigger rings. Not sure how long a hen could retain sperm though. Do you have a photo of your flock?
Back in September. Leaning towards not fertile and I don’t have enough experience to know what I’m looking at.How long ago did you cull your rooster?
I had to look this up a few months ago as we were switching roosters in our breeding pen. I read anywhere from two weeks to two months. Our first batch a month later did have a couple from the prior rooster still, so that was about 1 month, and not all of them did.If they are, I must have a stealth roo in my flock. I culled my Roo last September, hens can’t retain sperm this long, can they?!
Or do I just not know what I am looking at.
Not seeing any suppressed roos in there, beautiful flock though.Guess I am earning my title of friendly neighborhood crazy chicken lady…
Sperm in chickens usually live in the hen's body for 2 to 3 weeks. They can lay fertilized eggs for a month from a one-time mating session. Not fertilized eggs you are seeing thoughBack in September. Leaning towards not fertile and I don’t have enough experience to know what I’m looking at.
