I am a first time chicken owner and we got 6 chicks in late April. We have 2 RIR, 2 Australorps and 2 Sapphire Gems. It has been a fun process watching them grow, building their home and getting a few eggs thus far! I do build stuff, furniture and other house hold stuff so I've been told my coop is a bit over the top. We have three children, an autistic 22 year old boy, 20 year old girl and 12 year old boy. I work for a land development company and volunteer on a camera crew for my church. I have been so thankful to have been able to get a lot of "first time chicken mom" questions answered on this site. It is an amazing place for answers and support it seems.

Newbie here, too. My hubs is amazed I‘ve kept the girls alive this long (10 weeks +). They really are sweet and fun! I swore I wouldn’t fall in love, but when they follow you around, you just have to think, “Awwwww!”
