Hi! I just bought my first 6 chicks a week and a day ago 
. My brother has raised chickens, so I have a great mentor already but this forum should be a great as a resource and for cammeraderie as well. I already posted on another thread about my sneaky Cornish X making it into my layer hen brood, so I won't take up much space with that added complexity. Let's just say that the dude at the feed store doesn't know the difference between a Buff Orpington and mutant Cornish broiler, and my eyes aren't trained enough to see the subtle differences in the just-hatched chicks.
Thanks for welcoming me into the flock! Hubs and I are designing and building our backyard coop and run as we speak, so perhaps I'll find a thread somewhere in here for coop builds and share the progress.
