Another pullet to identify.

I purchased 15 birds from Murray McMurray's ornamental layer collection 4 weeks ago. I really just want good egg layers but would love to identify breeds. Can anyone help with this one?

Could be a cochin- they come in LF and bantam.

I was also going to guess Cochin.

It looks like it has blue feet though. Maybe a silkie/Cochin mix? Cochins are not the greatest egg layers. I'm not sure if there are any feather footed breeds with blue feet besides silkies. Hopefully someone else has more insight.

I think you were right about her being a silky...puffing out like a dust mop. How difficult is it to tell if pullet or roo with this breed?

I do not think she is a silkie, or a cochin.

ok, she is 6 weeks old now and still trying to confirm sex and breed. What would you say?

I was looking at their website, and apparently Cochins can have blue on their legs as babies...so maybe she is one? I thought they had yellow legs.

It's not a pure Silkie. She has the wrong comb and the wrong skin color. She does look like a hatchery quality Cochin.

I thought silkies have feathers that are hair like?
