We live on a plot of land that includes about 90 acres of farm land, which is leased out to a farmer who plants field corn and soybeans. Recently, my BF's dad found a zillion of wild onions growing in the field. I was wondering if it's safe to eat them? I know the farmer has to use some sort of pesticides, and since the corn and beans are grown for use in livestock feed, I know he's probably not using any kind of human-grade chemicals/fertilizers/pesticides. Even knowing this, I wonder if it's okay to eat them since nothing has been sprayed out there since last summer/fall, and with all the snow and rain we had the past few months, my thoughts were that maybe any traces of the harsh chemicals were washed away.

Does anyone know anything on the subject? How long will those chemicals stay in the land, and is it safe to consume something that was grown it in? The farmer should be coming soon to till so if they're safe to eat I want to get out there and harvest a crapload of them

Thanks in advance.
