Does anyone know if I can just get a breed description for a single breed without buying the whole book?

You can look online for a club of the breed that you are looking at. However it usually isn’t the full standards as the APA standards are under copyright law.

In that case, I would recommend checking an SOP out from the library for the time being.
But the price of purchasing is worth it. The SOP has lots more information than just breed standards. It also has information on how to pick the right birds and the parts of the bird and stuff like that.
