Oh boy, wait till the H.O.A. heard about this...."the eggs will be in violation unless they match your shutter shades".

What happened to genetic diversity? Chickens aren't just for eggs. They forage, spread seed, fertilize, eat, fight, and other things, but if everyone just has leghorns eating this feed, that they will inbreed. Other rare breeds might disappear, never to be breed again. Since chickens are about there shape, patteren, color, attitude, but what is the joy of raising chickens, if you can't find the perfect breed, that's a OLG or a fuzzy Orpington?

I'm worried that the color change might have a negative effect on the hens' mental or emotional health. It could be disturbing for the hens to suddenly lay eggs that she doesn't recognize as her own. I think the shock and stress could lead to a suppressed immune system, depression, or suicidal thoughts.

saffron would work great here too. Very vibrant and doesn't take much, can get a bit pricy tho
Yeah and saffron has to be imported so the price of the feed would be astronomical, I think it's Tumeric for the gold and yellow or is it imported too??

Beet juice for all flavor of Reds..

As someone with a mixed flock I value my white leghorn eggs for their whiteness as much as the blue. green, brown and pink ones I get from my other birds. I personally can't see the point of feeding something that is going to make your egg basket all one colour..... just a different colour from what it is now.... I love the natural variety of egg size and colour as much as I love the variety of colour and feather pattern in my mixed flock.
In a world where we already have far too many additives, is it really necessary to be adding them to our animals' feed as well, especially for such a cosmetic reason? Maybe the next step is to turn dog poo blue or pink so that it doesn't seem so unpleasant to pick up and can be more easily seen!

I know.....There's always one party pooper isn't there!

I wholeheartedly agree! What makes colored eggs special is their rarity and the variety of colors in my egg basked each day. Since each color has to be fed separately with this feed-- requiring separation of the hens to get differed colors-- I fear this will be used in factory farming to increase sales. That is a very bad thing indeed.

It isn't hard to select breeds for egg color. I love my mixed flock!
