APRIL Hatch-A-Long 2015: PLEASE READ FIRST POST

I thought I posted here when I put my eggs in the bator, but don't see my post..Anyway, I originally set 29 eggs---father is a bantam Cochin, mothers are various standard egglayers. Only 7 eggs were fertile when I candled at 12 days. Today they are hatching! I'll just have to buy a few from a farm store---i really only was hoping for 14.

At least now you know fertility is low.Might be due to a lot of girls and one little roo.

Love hearing stories about spaying and neutering!! I'm a big proponent of the practice and I applaud you for doing this for mama and the babies.

I have a final count of 5 chicks :/ pretty bad from 21 eggs, out of that 9 were infertile, and 6 died during incubatoin!

Since the rest aren't due to hatch til tomorrow should i take out the 4 that have hatched or leave them?

oh my gosh guys I think I need to ask for an intervention before the addiction gets out of hand xD this is my third hatch this year and we have a bunch of guinea eggs going in after the rest of these eggs hatch! Who knew hatching would be so much fun??

I have been taking them out as soon as they fluff up.

They made the decision for me. They were playing football with the other eggs so my son and I teamed up and out they came.

OMG! Today is day 19 and I can see slight rocking with the egg! Is it normal? Its soooo exciting!
