Bad hatch rate. Only 3 piped. And the ones that did pip all the way, looks like weak vitality. I'd say a fail.

I hatched 1 out of 5-6. I gave a few eggs to a friend who put them under his broody and in his incubator. see what happens.

3 of my 4 araucana gals are broody/raising chicks. Of course, I don't think any are on their own eggs.

I have a non-tufted male over tufted hens and am currently hatching chicks with no tufts. So go figure.

50% of the chicks should be tufted. How many chicks have you hatched so far?

My araucana definitely are having a tougher time with fertile eggs. I finally have some, though theyre all possibly mixes since i never seperated them out this year. But I'll definitely need to trim butt feathers next spring to try and help with that.

And Colt, hopefully I get at least one of your chicks with tufts. I've decided to cull the tufted male. He's just an awful bully to the male's in the bachelor pen and I don't trust him to be much better with females based on past experience with bully boys.
