Are red chicken feet normal or do I have a problem?

Hi All,

I've been wondering about this for a little while. It didn't seem like anything major, but I thought I'd post it anyway. My RIR hen has red feet / red between her toes... er... um... claws?

You can compare her feet on the right with those of my buff hen on the left. Anything I should be worried about / look out for? Thanks much!

No, I don't have an answer (sorry) but I just wanted to know what kind of chicken is your buff hen?

I think thats why they are called rhode island REDS hahaha jokes

but I am 80 percent sure it's normal. Both my RIR's had feet just like that...and they lived healthily..I woudn't worry about it, though I am no expert.

Is the hen next to your RIR a silkie?
I'm just curious because I had a black hen that had those same legs and I called her 'Silkie' before I even knew there was a breed by that name. (I had named another 'Legs' and it turns out she was a Dark Cornish!

She kinda does have that silkie look in the picture!

That's normal - or at least it doesn't mean anything's wrong - although it may not be right for the breed standard.
