The first one yes second one maybe not it takes a while for the girls to accept a roo if they have been living without one so if they reject him then it may be a 50/50 for your girls some may have fertile eggs some may not.
Thank you! The rooster was hatched by a broody last summer. He's 8/9ish months old now so I thought we may start having fertile eggs. I haven't seen any romance so Ive been watching the yolks. I'm hoping to have a broody soon so I'm trying to track which hens are laying fertile eggs. It's harder to tell than I thought it would be.
Not 100% sure maybe welsumer EE mix. He is from a flock with with a lot of breeds the roosters were a welsumer and a Orpington I think. Here's a recent pic. He's the little brown chick in my avatar too.
wow beautiful, he should be mature enough I figured if he was a brahma or cochin a slow maturing breed he may just not be sexually mature enough to breed yet, but he should be jumping your girls at this age, oh well, you should have most fertilized and all this spring, another thing is that we are still in winter and breeding slows down in winter because it is not the time to be raising chicks.
