Hi,

I bought 2 ameracaunas, 2 plymouth barred rocks and 1 dominique and was told 90% chance of being hens. They are almost 3 months old now. 4 out of the 5 do look like hens but we are not sure about the black and gold ameracauna. Can someone tell based on the photos above?

Thank you.

Your black and gold one is a pullet because i have one the same age and it looks just like her but mine her brother is a rooster because you could tell if the ameracauna was a rooster because it would look like this

the rooster is the dark black and red one

The 2 Ameracaunas are now 5 1/2 months old. They are not crowing so can I be sure that they are pullets? They haven't layed eggs yet while my Barred Rocks (same age) lay eggs every day.

Sometimes it take longer for some hens to start laying. Give it time. It could take another month or so. Do you have any updated pics?
