I was reading a couple of threads here on BYC about people who are spraying Roundup herbicide in and around their runs and coops. Most of the comments were to wait for 24 hours or be sure that it was dry before allowing chickens into the area.
Roundup is one of the most dangerous products on the market now to our livestock, ourselves and the environment thanks to Monsanto (agent orange, DDT, 2-4-D, Dioxin) and is extremely dangerous to use anywhere, anytime. It doesn't dry and go away. In fact, in 2009, a French court found Monsanto guilty of lying; falsely advertising its Roundup herbicide as "biodegradable," "environmentally friendly" and claiming it "left the soil clean." Over 65 countries have banned GMO seeds/grains genetically engineered with the herbicide in it but not here in the U.S. because Monsanto is too wealthy and too powerful. If ever there was an evil empire, Monsanto would fit the bill.
If you're not feeding organic feed, the chances are great that you're feeding your chickens, yourself and anyone else who eats your chicken's eggs or meat, Roundup because figures showed in 2012 that over 88% of all corn/maize and over 94% of all soybeans in the U.S. were GM (genetically modified) with Roundup. Roundup (Glyphosate) is being found in virtually all pregnant women and fetuses. Why? Because many of our processed foods that contain GMO corn or soy contains the deadly herbicide.
This stuff is bad news for all of us. If you're using it around your livestock, you're putting your health and your future offspring at risk of disease.
