I had the funniest thing happen today, I just had to share. Egg production has been WAY down the last couple of weeks. I figured that it was due to shortening days, molting, a scare by a dog, etc., etc. I was resigned to 1-2 eggs a day from my 8 hens.
So today I was cleaning out the coop, and reached up on a top shelf of the coop to pull out a bag of wood shavings to put in the nests. As I pulled the bag, I got BOMBED WITH EGGS! There was at least 22 up there, and they landed on my head, my shirt, my shoes... everywhere! I was covered with eggs, and laughing so hard my girls started cackling and backing away. They all broke, of course, but I was just so happy to know they are still laying! Silly hens!
