First time I’ve put down a laying hen. She did have a chronic sneeze and some diarrhea and just looked a bit off. I was going to put her down soon anyway but a dog attacked her. 😢 when processing her I found this weird thing inside? It’s rubbery- almost like an over hard scrambled egg? Any ideas? i don’t think I’ve seen this in roosters I’ve processed. It wasn’t attached to anything else, though I may have pulled it off something when cleaning her. Do you think she’ll be safe to eat? I threw away the parts the dog bit her (on the back and he punctured her vent as well) 😢 thigh is a little bruised but I kept that- but I may cut off that section of the thigh before cooking.

Where was the masses located? Was it with the ovary? If so she may have had an infection in her reproduction system.

I'm pretty sure your bird is still edible.

I would not eat a chicken that suffered from the above mentioned infections.

Lash egg = accumulated pus from chronic infection of her reproductive system.
Chronic sneeze = chronic respiratory infection.
Dog attack = any bacteria that the dog carried in his mouth transferred to the hen.
