Babies dead and missing. What did it? :{

Chicken wire Only keeps your birds in, not predators out. Most predators can lift, eat thru, or tear it down in minutes. Hotwire , ( a pet charger and a wire about 6" off ground and one on top the fence will work. I lost chickens and full grown geese to possums and raccoons 2 decades ago and they were in fenced dog wire yards. (not electric fence) and inside a coop (the chickens on stilts). Once they find your birds are 'easy pickins" ) they will be back, usually in 3-7 day intervals..... I lock all my ducks and geese in 4 foot night pens (some roofed) and it has electric fence all around. I live in the country... predators everywhere, nobody lost with this set up for years. They free range in 3 fenced pastures.... daytime only.
