I take on all the chores, and interactions, as well as feed and supply costs and buildings. My family for the most part doesn't have to do anything but tolerate their noise.

We have a small flock we keep. And we hatch chicks and raise them up. So yup we've had lots of chicks to give away. We've given thousands of eggs away. We enjoy it.

Wow! My flock got as large as 55 but I quickly realized that you don't get to bond with them like that and it's super hard to make fun treats like fermented feed and fodder for them

Ours get just basic feed and whatever pinkies we find in the shavings. Still go through about 150lbs a week between everyone. About 80% of my spending allowance from payday goes into feed, but it's worth it if I can continue expanding and getting what I'm interested in

This might be slightly off-topic, but if you are looking to lower costs but still spoil your flock at the same time, you can always raise your own mealworms. They are super easy and they make great treats!
