Bantam Cochin. Am I chocolate? (*PIC HEAVY*)

We don't have the real chocolate gene in the US yet. We have dun, but not chocolate.

I would say that she carries red.

Hmmm, I'd never known about the sun exposure changing their feathers, though it would make sense. However, our yard is completely shaded, so I doubt she's been sunbathing much, lol, though I'm sure she'd love to. We just get little streaks of sun hear and there, but not much. We may get a bit more soon though as the leaves fall...

Has she always been brown? With blacks sometimes before a moult the old feathers an look tired & brown, the newer feathers coming in black.

Like in the other "is this Chocolate?" thread, you cold test mate her if her new feathers are chocolate when they grow in.

yeah, she's always been that color (well, as long as we've had her, lol)

I can't have roosters, but a fellow BYCer has "offered" to test mate her for me, and see if we can't get some lovely brown grandbabies for me

, I'm just not sure of the whole shipping a chicken thing, although I know it's done often, it's just scary to me...
