Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

How can you tell if they are boys or girls at 10 days old

thanks
I feather sex mine. the girls grow what looks like multiple rows of wingfeathers by a week and the boys only have one row. then as the feathering progresses, the girls feather out evenly over their whole bodies but the boys have bare patches on their shoulders and the boys' tailfeathers don't grow in as quickly. (and incidentally they are cuter longer)

I think this is a fairly normal pattern for alot of breeds. the mediterranian breeds are harder to feather sex, I am told.

is this not normal for other Barnie lines?

Hello DiamondDust! Welcome to BYC! What part of the state are you from? I have just one Barney and I'm in Kitsap. Good luck starting your new flock!
We have the Wa. Feather Fancier show coming up the 16th of March in Monroe, Wa. There are 2 breeders that always seem to come and they both have nice birds and sell off the farm. One lives in Granite Falls, and the other Black Diamond area.....I just have a couple for eye candy....They are just so beautiful for chickens...eliz

Hi Liz! I'm looking forward to seeing you in Monroe, I hope our weather warms up a bit by then. I know Royce is from G.Falls, who is it that's in Black Diamond?

Can somebody please explain this to me?

Auction says he shows these birds and they do well?  How is that?  Also says they lay from light to dark eggs.  Would I be out of line to say this is completely bogus?

God Bless,

The Dutch standard is the double laced pattern which helps to protect the Barnevelder breed from random crossings. Any out cross to another breed would be clearly evident and take generations to fix. This also brings up the issue again with the APA standard calling barnevelders " partridge" when they are supposed to be double- laced.

Now the part that is completely bogus is that the seller is claiming that the rooster and the hens pictured all carry the blue gene.
