Barnevelders, sex linked? Dark/light?

Do barnevelder boys not start growing wattles till alot later? My silkie boys already have started but Barnies not?

My first lot of chicks are what I have the best photo timeline of, there was four boys and they all had at least small wattles at 6 weeks.
