Barred rock rooster or hen?

This guy/gal is 24 weeks old. This weekend, he/she crowed at my wife a couple of times for the first time which came as a big surprise. I know sometimes a dominant hen will crow. This guy/gal has been the dominant one in the flock. So I will need the forum's expertise on this one. Thanks in advance!
