Belle is acting strange

So I bathed her legs in epsom salt and put Vaseline in her and her sister’s legs yesterday. She held one leg up I thought because she didn’t like the feel. This morning her toe nail on her fifth toe was completely gone. It was bleeding so I stopped the blood and put her back in. She’s holding that foot up and acting like it hurts her did she bite her own toe nail off?

I agree that treating her for scaly leg mites is a good thing. Her one leg looks worse—is that the one where the toenail came off? I would repeat the vaseline 2-3 times this week, and then 1-2 times a week for several weeks until you see new scales growing in. If others are showing signs, I would treat them early. You can also clean out the bedding in the coop and spray the coop, roosts, and nests with permethrin.

Ok thanks! I’m not sure I have to check which foot lost the toe nail. It seems a lot of my chickens seem to have scaly leg mites. One is like hers the rest are not as bad. Does this spray work?
