I have a blind turkey about 5 months old that I have to keep isolated because the other birds just attack him. I let him out to wander around when I'm home and I have to scratch at his feed when I put him away. I feel bad for this little guy and thought a nice calm chicken would perhaps tolerate him, provide a little companionship, and show him where the food is (covering my job). So I went down to the neighbors and borrowed a chicken. . . . I put the chicken in the room with the blind turkey and the chicken just sat there. I talked to them for awhile, scratched at the food, and the chicken still sat there. . . I wanted to motivate her just a little so I extended a finger and it was like a shotgun went off! She was cackling like a siren and flying all over the room. My poor turkey ran into the wall and dropped to the ground. OH wow! I quick grabbed my turkey and set him outside, retrieved the chicken from the rafters, and headed back down to the neighbors. . . . We live and learn.
