Hey everybody, as you may recall, I made a post a few months ago wondering if my "pullet" was really a cockerel, of course he was, and that is a problem. Don't get me wrong, he's a beautiful bird, but we were expecting blue eggs, not fertilized ones. We would be okay with this, but we live next to a popular park, and his crowing has drawn some unwanted attention to our coop. He also jumped at and attacked my father while we were changing the food and water in the coop. He may have been stressed as he has never been aggressive before or since, though this may just be his personality.

Cutting to the chase, Luigi is our ~6 month old cockerel, he crows, he's beautiful, and we love him. We don't want him to be eaten, and we certainly don't want to lose our whole flock, so we're giving him away. Like I said he is young, and would thus be a great bird for breeding. He is a rare breed and therefore is a great deal, as he will be free. Even if you don't want him for breeding, he is a great protector of his girls and is well acclimated towards humans, as we held all of our birds from an early age and on.

Now to get to the man of the evening, I've provided some pictures and videos below:

(I was having trouble putting the video in directly, so I posted them on Instagram, you shouldn't need an account to see them)

If you do decide you want him, I or my father will message you with more details, additionally, we would like update pictures of him, after a few months, as we do love him.

What a gorgeous Roo! I am in same situation with a Lavender Roo that I was hoping for a pullet lol... Man it's hard to get rid of gorgeous guys.
If you are on Facebook, join a local chicken group where you can also post for rehome. If I wasn't in Dallas I would scoop him up despite not following restrictments in the city!

No kidding! If only we were half a mile east we would keep him. Thank you for the Facebook tip, we may be using that.

My first one was listed on CL, although it did take a lot longer to rehome but did find a great home for him.
The recent I rehome was on Facebook, still keep in touch with the new owner(can't help when you find other chicken loving peeps right?)
I do reach out and post flyers of any un appreciated Roos I need to rehome at Local mom & pop feed stores and TSC, (my belief from my business background) it's all about getting word out and marketing!!
I can't suspect it will take long before you post on 2-3 FB chicken groups in your area, someone will snatch him up(I know I would if I could).

We will probably not be using Craigslist, as we are paranoid of him not being taken care of, but we may put a flyer at our local feed store, that's something we hadn't thought about!

So we sold some unwanted boys and some pullets at a livestock auction. We searched google maps first, then looked up web pages. Here is a google map search near Cincinnati using the search term "Livestock Auction near Cincinnati". Maybe one will work out for you. Increase the geographical area search to find a few other options.

It was a good experience for us. We averaged $7 per bird, before commission. We did not have to stay for the auction, but they told us "everything sells" so did not need to worry about having animals to take back, and as long as the total was above $10 they would mail us a check. We stayed out of personal interest (never having been to a livestock auction before) and picked up our cash before leaving.
