Hello, long time lurker,
I was hoping to hook up with someone near me who might be interested in trading some hatching eggs or chicks. I am currently setting some BLRW in my ANCIENT GQF cabinet incubator. She held between 99-100 for 3 days before I put them in with RH between 40% - 50%.

My birds will be 3 in April. My flock is 1 roo and 6 hens. The Roo along with 1 blue hen and 2 black hens were grown out by me along with 40 other birds bought locally from 6 sources. All 4 came from a woman who had bought chicks from Max Strawn and selected her breeders from 50 chicks purchased. The other 3 blue hens were purchased from Northstar poultry in MT. I drove to visit my brother and bought year old breeder and show quality hens along with a splash cockerel who was beautiful but gave my layers hell. She told me she had purchased Foley birds from him 5 years prior and hadn’t introduced new stock.
I would have liked to set eggs last year but were not in a place to have chicks. Now I feel like I’m at the last chance to continue this project. I scored a very old GQF incubator with a newer thermostat for free along with 3 trays and a bunch of racks. I replaced the door, back and trim plus a good scrubbing but she’s holding it down like a fat older sister. . I will take pictures of the setup tomorrow but I have some picks of the stars of the show on my phone.

What I’d like to bring to the North Star line is deeper mahogany, more dark blue and less brassy hackles. What is like to add to the Strawn birds is a little more mass and to do away with the offcolored stripe that runs down the vein in the feathers as well as a fatter crisper lace. im hoping I will get some nice birds this year. I don’t notice the feather line in my roo. Mainly on the blue hen and somewhat on the back ones.

Im not getting a lot of eggs, between 1-4 a day but plan on setting what I’ve collected every 7 days. I don’t know if this is the right place to make a trade but I’d love to get some nice Marans or Isbars. If anyone is close to the willamette valley let me know.
