I have a pair of bobwhite quails recently I notice the male sitting in the nest but now he is definately broody is this common for males to be broody instead of the female and if the eggs hat will he raise them and will the female not attack them

It's quite normal. Both parents help hatch and raise the chicks with bobs, since their natural instincts are still pretty well preserved. If they hatch the eggs you can let them take care of the chicks as long as there aren't any other bobs in the cage aside from the parents.
