I hatched some chicks. They are about 4 weeks old, maybe a few days shy of that. Well here goes. Let me know if you agree that these are indeed pairs.
Barred Rock - Hen left/Roo Right
Hen looks darker/ roo looks lighter
comb is bigger on roo and roo's waddle is more red. Hen is more pink. I know its not easy to see all that in the pic but I tried to take good macro pics.
Barred Rock again. Hen left. Roo Right. You can see roo's comb getting tall.
Delaware Chicks
Roo Front/in focus. Larger comb, wattle and redder.
Delawares again, same 2. Roo's head is in front of my chin. Hens head is closer to my fingers. Can you see the difference better now?
Buff Orpington
Hen left. Roo Right. Wattle bigger and redder on roo.
BO's again.
Roo left. Hen right.
Roo is lighter in color.
OK, so tell me if you agree. I hope I am right. I hoped to get both males and females.
So few of my eggs hatched due to power outages during hatch. I should have hatched 30-something; only got 10. I think 5 roos and 5 hens but most importantly at least one of each.
