Thank you so much for all the advice! I covered the top of the feeder, placed it on top of an over turned pot to give it some height. I have had my chickens for a week so far and everyone was right, almost all the grass in the run has been trampled and pooped on! I think I am going to invest in some sand but I was wondering about garden soil? Would that work as well? Or is sand better because of absorbency?
