Today my DW and I were visiting the chickens when our old dog Brisco (about 17 years old now and weighs maybe 25 lbs) came up to the other side of the fence. He is old and slow but he has a strong prey drive and really wants to get after the chickens. So he is whining and occasionally yapping and sticking his nose through the 2x4 welded fencing.
Meanwhile our oldest chicken, and mutt rooster we call Puff Daddy who is about 20 weeks old started doing what roosters are supposed to do. He approached Brisco with his head down and his featheres all flared up. And when Brisco would stick his nose through the fence he would jump up and try to spur poor old Brisco. Brisco would jump back, but couldn't resist another approach.
We thought it was quite comical but we put a stop to it and ushered Brisco back to the house. I gave Puff Daddy a couple extra blackberries for being the brave protector.
