Hahaha! Me too!!!I had known that there were white chickens and red chickens and yellow chickens from the illustrations in kids' books, but when I first saw a hatchery catalog I read it over and over and over marveling at all the options.
I had a stuffed chicken which was white with black spots (white / black splash?) and a black tail. It had two yellow babies that went under her wings. I thought all baby chicks were yellow, and that the stuffed animal manufacturer had taken liberties with the momma chicken color. Kinda like rainbow unicorns. That was my only chicken stuffed animal. Any kids books (chicken little?) I think I just assumed they made all the colors up...
No idea that white/black splash was an actual chicken color. (Still not sure about the black tail...)
