Broken tail feathers how do I fix them?

I have a New Hampshire Red hen that I am taking to the fair in two months and she has broken tail feathers. It is only a few feathers but I do not know how to get rid of them.

I have heard of folks plucking a feather for show that was out of place or the wrong color.

If plucked it *may* grow back in or maybe not until molt. Hard to say for sure as each time seems unique. What is her current age?

If a judge finds certain major feathers missing, it can result in a point deduction. However, there can also be a point deduction for broken feathers. If the show determines missing feathers to be a result of cheating with the intent to change the bird’s type or color, it can result in disqualification.
